Ruby Hamad says it feels like a "kick in the guts" every time someone changes their profile photo to the French flag. Hamad, a columnist for Australian publication Daily Life, whose parent are from Lebanon and Syria, said she mourned for the people of Paris, but was upset a place she felt just as strong a connection to was being ignored by many on Facebook and within the media.
